This Privacy Policy explains what information KhodiStays Ltd ("KhodiStays", "we", "us") collects, how we use it, and who we share it with. We built KhodiStays as an open listings platform, not a data broker — we don't sell your information or use it for third-party marketing.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information — name, email, and phone number, collected when you sign up (via Clerk, our authentication provider).
• Listing information — property details, descriptions, pricing, and photos submitted by property owners (photos are hosted via Cloudinary).
• Booking information — guest name, phone number, email (if provided), dates, guest count, and any message or special request submitted when making a booking.
• Usage & device data — collected automatically via cookies and analytics tooling (Google Tag Manager) to understand how the site is used.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To operate and display property listings.
• To connect guests and property owners so they can arrange a stay directly.
• To send transactional emails, such as booking confirmations (sent via Resend).
• To respond to support requests.
• To understand and improve how the platform is used.

3. How We Share Your Information

When you make a booking, your contact details (name, phone number, email, and message) are shared with the specific property owner you're booking with, so they can coordinate your stay. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

We use a small number of service providers to operate KhodiStays, each of which processes data on our behalf under their own security and privacy terms:

• Clerk — authentication and account management.
• Cloudinary — hosting for property photos.
• Resend — delivery of transactional emails.
• Google (Tag Manager) — site analytics.

4. Cookies & Analytics

We use Google Tag Manager to load analytics tooling that sets cookies to help us understand site usage — for example, which pages are visited and how. You can control or disable cookies through your browser's settings; doing so may affect some site functionality.

5. Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account or listing is active, and for as long as needed to provide support or meet legal obligations.

6. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by emailing support@khodistays.com.

8. Children's Privacy

KhodiStays is not intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under that age.

9. International Data Transfers

Some of our service providers may process data outside Kenya. Where that happens, we rely on those providers' own security and compliance safeguards.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of KhodiStays after a change means you accept the updated policy.
